Reviewer says...
By far the worst place I have ever lived. Units are way over priced. Infested with silverfish, minto takes forever to fix things, animal died in my daughters wall leaving an awful smell and minto did nothing, you can hear EVERYTHING your neighbours do, people running up and down stairs at all hours, without heat 3 times during the winter and took minto days to fix. Minto is inconsiderate DO NOT MOVE HERE

You seriously want to live here?
I'll answer that: YOU DON'T!

The only good thing about these units is their location; you don't need a car. It's not worth the money saved though; there are better places in Ottawa that also have cheaper rent. The maisonette units are just awful. They're infested with bugs (firebrats and silverfish, say hello to your roomates!), which despite being a clean freak I have found in my beds and pantry. Some of the buildings also have mice. There was a plugged mouse hole under my bathroom sink which always freaked me out.

Noise is a huge problem that the management will do nothing about. The walls are paper thin and have no sound insulating properties. If I could give a 0 rating for noise I would. If you HAVE to live here take a top floor unit as far from a dumpster as possible, but be aware that your downstairs neighbors will hear everything you do, including that music you like to listen to. Besides the noise, when the dumpsters get emptied pieces of garbage will blow into your tiny yard.

If you are near a parking lot in winter, good luck with that. They will be plowing snow as slowly as possible for several hours in the early morning (2-4am). The scraping and beeping will haunt your nightmares for years to come!

Even if you live on a top floor or luck out with your neighbors, you will hear noise day and night from outside your unit. All of the units are next to stairs and you will hear people coming and going. Two of the top unit bedrooms are also next to a public laundry room. You will never sleep again.

The pool is not open enough, and there are not enough adult-only sessions. They use salt water, and it gets pretty unsanitary after kids have been rampaging in it all day. Adults of course get the last session of the day, when the water is the nastiest and most urinated in.

If you decide to live on a bottom floor and get a family with out-of-control children living above you, and you probably will because it happened to us TWICE, the management will sympathize with the family and you will have to move. Stuff was falling off my shelves and walls, and they would still do nothing about it.

Now that I think of it, we never had good neighbors. From huge families crammed into small spaces, to chain smokers, to domestic violence, we had to put up with it all. The chain smoker's smoke came through our vents and windows, which was just LOVELY. Also, be prepared to endure student parties going on 4am on a workday, where you have to call in the police because the Minto security won't do anything about it.

The management also likes to leave problems sitting for days at a time, so be prepared to listen to a beeping fire alarm 24/7 for an entire weekend, multiple times per year. Be prepared to endure situations exactly like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2SEWqQemLA where they won't tell you what's wrong, and tell you they can't fix it until the long weekend is over. Be prepared to have pipes burst in the winter and have water leaking into your ceilings and floors, which they then paint over so that no one will know that there could be mold in those walls.

When we were in the process of moving away from this godforsaken dump, a Minto employee tried to steal our propane tank and destroyed our BBQ cover to get to it. They thought we were already gone and had started scavenging. Stay classy, Minto.

Still want to live here? Say goodbye to your sleep, good nature, and sanity. GOOD LUCK!
