Reviewer says...
The start of the lease was great and the building was extremely quiet. There were no bugs. All of the other tenants were very nice. The water had a tendency to go suddenly hot or suddenly cold several times during a shower, but the water pressure was great so I didn't complain. I did go through 3 different fridges, though, and dealing with the office was a hassle as there was a lot of miscommunication between the employees.
At the end of August, crime started to happen. Then at the beginning of September, my car got broken into twice and vandalized in front of the building, the building was also tagged with some minor gang phrases. Me and the company owner got into some arguments about that, and she seemed very less than empathetic, but I guess it wasn't her responsibility that I had to get a new vehicle and move. A lot of the mail boxes also got vandalized and broken into, and they didn't do anything about it, and when confronted about it they got upset and changed the subject.
The weekend I went to get a new vehicle outside of the city was the same weekend I had to put in the request to move, so that was a bit of a headspin. I ended up being one day late handing in the form and they were not very lenient on the rules, despite my hardships. I then scrubbed my suite clean from head to toe until 4am, including shampooing the carpet, and then more into the next day when I finally moved. I had my walkthrough with the other owner as soon as I finished and he said he was very impressed and hoped someone rented my suite for the month of November so that I didn't have to pay that month of rent without actually being in the suite.
The other day I got a letter in the mail from social services saying that they put in a claim for my damage deposit (that I don't get back, nor do I need back, it's just the principle of the thing). My social worker paid that deposit. They also put on an extra claim for shampooing the carpet. Social services sent me a photocopied fax of the claim that states it was faxed just an hour after my walk through, which leads me to think they were going to claim it anyway. There is no way <removed> could have communicated with <removed> that soon after my walkthrough about it because he is extremely busy during the weekdays, and had people viewing my suite before and after my walkthrough and likely had places to be.
As someone who gets money from the government to help me out for good reason, it is extremely insulting to have someone make a claim for that damage deposit that social services provided for them. It is basically fraud, and stealing from the government. Shame on you, <removed>.
