Reviewer says...
This was my very first apartment and by far my favourite. I absolutely adored living here and am still kind of sad that I ever moved out.

This building is character and has all the charm that goes with it. Much of the details have been preserved and well maintained.

The caretaker (at the time I was living there) was a sweet older gentleman who lived on site. He was always very helpful and kept a close eye on the grounds. The lawn was always well kept, as well as the flower beds around the building, never any garbage in sight. The only downside was that he smoked like a chimney in his suite and made the hallway kind of smelly.

Location could not have been any better. Convenient and accessible, yet far enough away that it was nice and quiet. You could sleep with your windows open and not hear any traffic, wake up to birds chirping.

Always lots of street parking. Rarely had to park further down the block. There are little garages (that I was told used to be horse stables) you could rent for parking. Unfortunately weren't any available while I was living there.

Lots of free storage on site. Laundry was very convenient and clean. There is a laundry card machine right in the laundry room so you don't have to leave the building to load your card (which is amazing).

I lived in a 'basement' suite in this building. It wasn't fully underground, the windows were about at waist height so you still got lots of natural light. My suite was the smallest in the building, in the back by the laundry room. Even being the smallest suite, I still had a decent amount of room and charm. The set up of the suite was perfect. No awkward long hallways breaking up rooms. Unfortunately no in suite storage other than a small bedroom closet, but I was able to fit an armoire in comfortably and install some shelves in the living room. The kitchen could use an update as far as cupboards are concerned, not a ton of space. Thankfully at the time I didn't have all the junk I have now accumulated over the years.

This building was very quiet. You can hear people moving above you, but nothing jarring. There was a young lady who lived above me who would play an acoustic guitar and sing. Thankfully she was very talented and it was actually very pleasant.

Overall, I loved this building. The rent was dirt cheap (less than $500 in '07). A gorgeous building in a great area. I miss it dearly and would move back in a heartbeat to my tiny little basement suite.
