I lived here for almost two years, and mostly had a good experience. It was quite cold in the winter though, and the hydro bill went through the roof (electric heat). In the winter I could expect $130.00 a month for hydro, on top of 925.00 for a single bedroom in a rough neighborhood. I ended up moving out because it was exorbitant for what I was getting (no storage either). Contrary to other reviewers, I found the sound proofing fair sufficient. There was only noise from other suites in the halls; I SOMETIMES heard the people above me arguing late at night, but that was not a common occurrence.

That said, I still miss the huge kitchen.

I have resided at 61 Furby for almost 3 years now. The building has been upgraded since 2010 and is always clean ... even in the fall and winter when wet and muddy boots are the norm. The outside is always tidy, snow is shoveled, and there are in ground lights that keep the building lit up at night which adds elegance to an up and coming neighbourhood. Whenever an issue arises, there is an onsite caretaker who acts quickly and professionally to solve it. I also needed a safe place as my 10 year old daughter lives with me sometimes. We are also half a block from "the Gates" which is a gorgeous almost 3 km walk anytime of year. I would not hesitate to recommend this block to anyone.

Beautifull building, lots of character! Think they did a fair job with the renovations (windows are well insulated, floors look nice (nice wood floors in the bedroom/living room and vinil in the kitchen/bathroom). Heaters are new and the unit comes with a portable AC which is handy. The units are huge and with good storage space. In summary the units are fine, but the neighbours are somewhat noisy (one of then played the drums till midnight almost everyday - management don't care!). I don't like the neighborhood that much, don't think it's very safe, but it's very convenient (:

The only good thing about this dump is the location. We are infested with some kind of weird looking grey bugs & management just ignores the complaints. Too much money for a slum apartment.

This place has been renovated, and is now VERY expensive, nearly $900 for a small 1 bedroom, plus hydro (bringing it to over $1000). The building is over 100 years old, so you have all the problems you would expect, thin walls and floor so you can hear your neighbours talking. The renovations were cheaply done and won't last long.

For the price, you would expect more, but in a city with 0% vacancy, this is par for the course now in Winnipeg... evict, renovate cheaply, double the rent.
