Asked on June 08, 2017
A. A bachelor suite at 131 Parkdale Ave goes for $826 but not sure about the 1 or 2 bedroom as there appears to be a waitlist. You can contact Timbercreek by phone at 343.803.5759.

Here's a link to their Parkdale apartment page:

Reviewer says...
I've lived in this apartment building for 8 months now and if I had to describe my experience living here, it'd be "not the worst".
The management I dealt with while renting the apartment were friendly and helpful. I had some issues with valid ID and the rental agent was genuinely interested in helping me apply. It was my first apartment so I didn't really know for sure what to expect but I was nicely surprised with her friendliness. The apartment building is small and pretty old; the lobby has been renovated with some modern touches and has a camera but the rest of the building is getting pretty old and there are no other cameras to be seen. There is also no rental office on site. For all the paper work we had to head to another timbercreek office in a building about a km up the street.
When we moved in, some of the electrical outlets in the kitchen and my roommate's bedroom weren't functioning. We moved in on a Friday and didn't realize until after regular maintenance hours ended. The maintenance staff were relatively helpful in the end but trying to get ahold of anyone to find out what we could do proved to be a challenge. They came by on the Monday to fix everything and the guy let on that the company knew about the electrical problems in the unit and had just fired a bunch of old workers and management who were performing poorly.
Some of our neighbours in the building are on the more eccentric side but nobody is too loud or disturbing. I do however get a lot of secondhand smoke in my apartment from my neighbours across the hall and the smell of smoke in the stairway is pretty strong too as it's not a non smoking building.
As for the neighbours outside, there is a property behind us where a lot of the people loudly fight and swear. I've been woken up in the middle of the night *with* my windows closed because of a girl screaming and swearing at her boyfriend. Mechanicsville has a lot of interesting characters but I still feel safe all the time and live close to public transit, shops and the beautiful Ottawa river.
Even though I feel safe in the neighbourhood, I feel like the building could be much more secure. There is no real bike storage so everyone puts their bikes under the stairwell near a door with no cameras that people leave open all the time. As a result, both my roommate and I have had our bikes stolen. We were met with indifference by the management. They told us they were going to install a summer bike rack but that never happened.
The laundry facilities are good with modern washing machines and an expensive but reliable smart card system. The elevator is tiny and old. It's slow and starts and stops pretty abruptly but it's never been broken the entire time I've lived here. The apartments are small but nicely finished and relatively affordable and there is no sign of bugs in the building.
I've had lots of little annoyances living here but no major complaints and I'm probably going to stick around after my lease is up for a little while at least.
